Gus you are ONE!! You are a joyful little fella. Gus you are ONE!!

You are a joyful little fella. Quick to smile and laugh, and chattering up a storm. You definitely have things to say even if we don’t know what they are yet.

It’s hard to believe that it was a year ago yesterday that we headed to Stratford before my weekly checkup because of high blood pressure. They broke my water around 6pm and induced me around 9pm. After about 3.5 hours of active labour you made your arrival right on time for your due date on Valentine’s Day.

In this past month you’ve gotten super speedy with your crawling. You love to put things in and out of buckets and I occasionally find random things in my shoes. You love to investigate the world around you and we have been enjoying the springlike sunshine of late.

You’ve had 3 molars (I think) come through. You don’t like me to check though haha 😛 You seem to have a fair amount of teeth anyways.

We are excited to see what you get up to next, little man!

You are our forever Valentine and we love you so much! 💌 ❤️ Happy Birthday Gus!

2023 was a year. The highs and lows: January- too 2023 was a year. The highs and lows:

January- took the nieces and nephews for a day out at the Children’s museum and Disney on Ice with the sister in laws!

February- welcomed Gus on his due date- Valentine’s Day

March- lots of newborn snuggles and little sleep

April- celebrated my 34th birthday with a favourite pastime- glow in the dark bowling at little bowl! Also visited the UofGuelph campus to celebrate Dad’s retirement

May- heartbroken, having to say goodbye to Oscar. Canoed down a section of the Maitland with family where mom met me with Gus at a stop so I could feed him. Took the boys on our first major solo outing to the splash pad in Bayfield

June- Finley gets to see what riding the bus will be like! Dad’s retirement gathering. Homemade strawberry rhubarb pie with produce from the garden! Gus tries solids. Front porch lunch dates with the boys. First wedding of the season as a mom of two. New wheels.

July- Dungannon rodeo. Time back at the bush. A couple more weddings.

August- Mom and Dad get a new deck. Gus enjoys the jolly jumper. Finley and I make donuts. One final Gooberfest. Aimi’s parents visit. Niagara Falls. Finley graduates from daycare.

September- Adam’s birthday celebration with our parents. Finley starts Jk. Adam goes back to school too. Fall colours start. Photograph an amazing 70s themed wedding. Sliding door in attic gets replaced. Had a fun day with Melissa Pushelberg second shooting.

October- Finley gets to check out the combine when the beans come off. Fall outings to pick out pumpkins. Playing in leaf piles. Enjoying the colours. Walks at the bush. Pumpkin carving. A snowy Halloween with a duck and a Pikachu.

November- Christmas tree goes up. Donna and Walter are married 50 years. Gus learns to crawl! Tree farm family photos with Melissa. Photograph an engagement session. Caldwell Family Christmas.

December- Finley’s birthday celebrations. Blyth Christmas parade. Collingwood with family. Hot tubs. Funny farm. Outdoor cider tasting. Adam’s time off for holidays. Christmas. Snuggles with the boys.

It’s nice to remember these moments when things are feeling mundane, exhausting & hard. ❤️
